Powerful Spells Start With Your Fingertips - A Guide to Writing Your Own Spells

Author: Scott Joyce

Often I get asked for spells, or how to exactly word a spell, which brings me to this topic of spell crafting. The origin of spells is ancient. Spells were being said long before religion or lifestyles had names such as Wicca, Witchcraft, or Paganism, etc.

Some spells are either handed down from teacher to student or passed from generation to generation. Through the influx of books to the market, now you can even order and buy particular spell books. The spells that Ive received are kept in my book of shadows or now known as BOS for short. Every Spellcaster should keep their spells in one. I met a wonderful Witch, Fiona, at a circle gathering and she kept her BOS on a palm pilot, which I gave a thumbs up! I have the motto, go with what is easiest for you, writing or typing. The important thing is to have it readily accessible when the need arises and also they must be safe, so backup those files if they are on disk and/or store away safely your BOS.

Not all spells are handed down to the student, or read in books. There is no reason why you cannot write your own spells that will be just as powerful if not more so than ones you did not create. When you create a spell, it is made from you and your personal energy, so from the start you have a good solid base to work from.

In crafting your own spells there are several guidelines that you need to follow in order to make a well written spell. The first of which is your opening. Your opening is usually made to get the attention of the Elements, Gods and Goddesses, or 'Higher Powers' as some will call them, or whomever you are working with. Unfortunately, a lot of spells are written without this opening, and the effect upon them is ok who is going to bless or fore fill this spell? There is no direction without this line, you are getting no ones attention. If your not sure what to use, go with Gods and Goddesses hear my call, if you please one and all. Thats fine.

The second important factor in writing your spell, is to specify what you need or seek. Without this your spell is nothing, it has no purpose, and you should not be writing a spell to begin with. A lot of people have money troubles, so lets go with The bills are unpaid. Good reason right? So, now we have Gods and Goddesses hear my call, if you please one and all. The bills are unpaid.

The third important factor is the reason. If you have no reason to receive this, then why should it be so. You want to state clearly why. We can combine this with our second line such as The bills are unpaid and need to mend. Excellent! Our spell is moving along.

Our fourth factor is not always necessary but a good idea, especially where money is concerned. I call it options and timing. Give some realistic options for the source and timing of the spell. In our spell, money is not going to fall out a tree, or drop from a cloud, unless your one very lucky Witch. Also, you do not want to have an accident and receive a settlement down the road in two years. That would defeat the whole purpose to our spell.

How we would word this is , May it come from an unexpected source by months end. Wait a second! Did you see something wrong with the line I just wrote? An unexpected source could mean a death or tragedy and we do not want that, so we will fix that right away on the next line which should be in all your spells. With harm to none and love to all. In truth I would re-write the line as Before this July months end. Be it from friend, gift, or raise in the coming days. Specify options if you have them available, think.

Now we must close our spell and thank who we called for help. There is nothing worse than asking for something and not saying please and thank you. The Gods and Goddesses do not like disrespect so you would treat your spell as if you had called them during a ritual. Next line would be I thank you for listening to my call. So mote it be. There. We thanked them and paid respect.

What I am trying to show you is to think about what you are writing. Sure you could write a spell in a jiffy, but we want to make sure that you are putting your deepest thoughts into it. Give it form and purpose! Rhyming is not important, but it does help you to concentrate and remember the spell besides making it sound pretty.

Also remember to put your energy into the spell when performing it. Charge it with emotion, see it breathe and take shape to bring about your need. Get up and dance or move around! Use symbolism, candles, herbs, etc. whatever proper to charge your spell even more, go with what feels right and learn to trust your instincts. Remember to go by the phase of the moon, waxing, full, waning and new. New projects from new to full and banishing from full to new moon.

How did our spell come out?

Gods and Goddesses hear my call.

If you please, one and all.

The bills are unpaid and need to mend,

before this July months end.

Be it from friend, a gift, or raise

in the coming days.

With harm to none and love to all

I thank you for listening to my call.

So mote it be.

Experiment and try your own spell writing if you do not already. See the results you get or do not get, and learn from your trials and errors. We are always growing, and never too old to learn or too young to try. Also remember Karma, what you put out comes back to you many fold. Never put out what you would not want in return. Sure it is nice to have money and riches, but can you deal with the problems that come with gains. Think and create wisely.

Blessed Be.
