Man, I love the smell, sound, and feel of leather! Something about leather gives you a feeling no other material does. I ride a motorcycle, so I wear leather for protection. When I think about it, man kind has worn leather for protection since we first started covering our naked bodies.

Early man used the skin of animals (all animal skins are considered leather) for clothing, shelter, tarp, sleds, and a variety of things. The tougher the animal, the tougher the leather and the greater the protection against weather, underbrush, and enemy's weapons. Maybe that is why leather effects us so deeply. It ignites the primal man (or woman) in all of us. The memory of leather must be deeply ingrained in our genetic memory.

Primal urges must be why we find leather sooo very sexy. They say lingerie was invented by the French back in the 1600s. I say the first cave gall that had half her leather clothing ripped off by a dominate male, was the creator of lingerie, she just didn't know it.

When we see a woman dressed in leather lingerie, we often think of dominatrics, or bondage and other rough sex. Crack the whip, tie me up, beat me, bite me and call me scum kind of thing. It's just an image we see prominat in the main stream media. I see pure sex appeal.

Leather lingerie can be sensual, sexual and elegant too. Leather, like sex, plays on all the senses. Good quality leather has it's own distinct smell. Even blindfolded, you will recognize the smell of leather, hear the crackle, and feel the texture (even if it's a leather blindfold). Each of our senses brings forth an image in our minds. When we smell, hear or feel leather, images rush into our heads.

Girls have been attracted to men in leather since the dawn of time. The "bad boy" image comes attached to a man in leather. A rebel, a fighter, and a lover. Is that is why so many rock stars wear leather?

Gay men and women also wear leather. So the attraction goes deeper than we may ever know. If leather attracts the opposite sex, as well as the same sex. Maybe leather says I am the dominate man, or woman here. Many powerful men have hired women to dress in leather and dominate them.

I think we all have individual images of what leather means to us. Whatever image leather conjures up in your mind, I am sure that excitement is part of it. That's why sexy leather is such hot stuff.
