Crown Molding Adds a Classy Touch...Cheap!

Author: Denton Lesslie

Crown molding is the easiest way to add dimension and class to a room.

I had a room in our living space that needed something that I just could not put my finger on it. I was walking around the local home improvements store and it hit me...Crown Molding. It was very cheap, and took minimal skills to install. All you need is a miter saw, measuring tape, and some fastening devise.

I was in a friends newly built home (very expensive, mind you) after that and noticed that most of the room in the main living area had some sort of crown molding. That was set in my mind as to what I needed to do.

There is many different types. You can even put some of the pieces together to make your own concoction (er. masterpiece). The possibilities are limitless. But, don't go over board. You are trying to add an element not recovering the entire wall.

It is pretty simple. Just measure the length of the wall and cut on the angle the corresponds with the perpendicular wall that you are intersecting. Usually it is a 45 degree angle. You need to be pretty precise, but not perfect. You can fill the small cracks with calking.

The difference was incredible. It added the desired class and look. It really makes a nice transition from the wall to the ceiling. Just get you a small piece and try it. Then make your decision.
